Bio

Veronica Murphy is an emerging artist in the United States exploring cultural themes of feminist identity, mental health & visual aesthetics in New Media, Photography and Video. Murphy received her Master of Arts from Purchase College in Contemporary Art, Theory and Criticism; concentration in Curatorial Studies & Practice. Murphy’s primary research engages with 1960s-70s art, the Vietnam anti-war movement, and the domestic expectations of women. She is an alumna of Purdue University, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Photography, Technology & Media Art Studies.

Murphy uses new media and historical references in to discuss social dynamics, technology, and culture. Ultimately, Murphy’s work seeks to ask questions, evoke introspection and stimulate conversation.

Veronica Murphy is currently the coordinator of Photography and Digital Media at Rockland Community College, managing the film photography and digital arts, as well as the art archives & social media. She worked as the archivist at the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center in Nyack, NY researching acquisitions, maintaining collections, & tending to the data organization, preservation of art work, and its documentation. She has also interned in the archives of the Neuberger Museum of Art in Harrison, NY.

With great interest in the arts and history, Murphy is an adjunct college educator teaching survey art history courses at Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY. Murphy previously assisted in classes at Purchase College; courses include Introductory Color Photography, Introduction to Modern Art, & Art since 1945.
